State medical societies collaborate to impact healthcare disparities
Seven state medical societies announced the creation of the Health Equity Network for Change (HENC) which is focused on improving the health status of medically underserved populations. HENC employs a new data source, health information exchange data, and powerful analytic tools provided by KAMMCO. Medical societies in each of these states have engaged KAMMCO to build physician-led exchanges: Kansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Connecticut, New Jersey, Missouri, and Louisiana.

Norwalk Health Department is Preparing for Emergencies--during National Preparedness Month and All Year-Round
No one wants to spend time thinking about natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and other large-scale events that could put us in danger. However, the Norwalk Health Department does just that, and not just during National Preparedness Month in September. Our staff works year-round with partners and volunteers to get ready for public health emergencies. NHD creates plans, conducts trainings and drills, and coordinates with other agencies to ensure we can respond in the event of an emergency.

The Stamford Land Conservation Trust (“SLCT”) announces acquisition of its 55th nature preserve, located on Wallenberg Drive in North Stamford. This new preserve provides valuable wooded habitat for wildlife, including a seasonal vernal pool. Seasonal wetlands provide valuable and irreplaceable habitat for a wide variety of amphibians in a relatively predator free setting. The Wallenberg Drive acquisition not only preserves open space threatened by development, it is nearly contiguous to the Trust’s existing Birch Meadow Preserve and provides a growing ecosystem critical for many species.
