Norwalk, CT - Norwalk Hospital honored Wilton, Connecticut resident and longtime hospital volunteer, Carol Bauer, with the inaugural Founders’ Award. Mrs. Bauer was presented with the award at the recent Norwalk Hospital 125th Anniversary Gala. The Founders’ Award recognizes exceptional members of the Norwalk Hospital community whose caring and influence are both life-changing and transformational. The Founders’ Award is a reflection of Mrs. Bauer’s impact on Norwalk Hospital, not just today but for generations to come.

For 40 years, Mrs. Bauer has served Norwalk Hospital with exceptional expertise, compassion, and dedication. She is a hands-on volunteer, a generous benefactor, and a friend to all. Her unparalleled commitment to Norwalk Hospital, where she currently volunteers as a Chaplain of Spiritual Care, and the support and care she provides to patients, families, and Caregivers is a stellar example of what ‘caring for the caregiver’ is all about. That is why the Founders’ Award was presented at the Norwalk Hospital 125th Anniversary Gala. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund a new Caring for the Caregiver program at Norwalk Hospital.

“Mrs. Bauer is an extraordinary person who has devoted much of her life to service and to helping others. Her selfless approach to volunteering is so deserving of this recognition and much more,” said John Murphy, MD, president and CEO of Western Connecticut Health Network, Norwalk Hospital’s parent organization. “Mrs. Bauer has had an unimaginable impact on Norwalk Hospital, and we cannot thank her enough.”

While Mrs. Bauer’s commitment to Norwalk Hospital runs deep, her work and philanthropy throughout Fairfield County cannot go unmentioned. The Norwalk Hospital chaplain, volunteer executive, advocate, lecturer, and former teacher has a legacy of volunteering that is unrivaled by most. Other organizations that have benefited from her caring commitment include The Tiny Miracles Foundation, United Way, Honey Hill Nursing Home, and Americares.
