Winners Annouced at the Rowayton Arts Center

Weston resident Joel Sobelson won Best in Show at the Rowayton Arts Center’s opening reception of the Beyond Brushwork Exhibit. The winning work was his pastel drawing, “Spotted Owl.” In mixed media, Susan Acker’s “Shore Finds” won 1st place as well as the Gale Parsons Award.

Almost 60 artists entered the exhibit. The art, submitted by RAC Exhibiting Members, was done without any limitations in theme, but the work had to exclude traditional painting with a brush. The gallery, located at 145 Rowayton Avenue in Rowayton, is open 11-5pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and from 1-4pm on Sunday. Admission is free.

Exhibit chairs were Kathleen Weinstock and Pat Atkin. The exhibit opened Sunday, January 29 and will be up until February 19.

RAC has been a cultural hub for almost 60 years. The RAC Art School offers year-round classes and workshops for creative people of all ages and at all levels. RAC, a not-for-profit organization, underwrites art education programs throughout Norwalk.
