DANBURY, CT - Team Boughton today called on Ambassador Tom Foley to participate in the upcoming televised gubernatorial debates after reports the Ambassador refused debates hosted by The Hartford Courant/Fox 61 and NBC Connecticut.
“State Republicans have an important choice to make in the race for governor,” said Team Boughton manager Heath Fahle. “Debates are an integral part of the democratic process and voters deserve to hear from all the candidates.”
Hartford Courant columnist Kevin Rennie reported that the Ambassador will not show at the two televised debates in April.
Fahle continued: “Mark Boughton looks forward to discussing his positive vision for Connecticut’s future based on growing the state’s economy, reducing the tax burden, and ending Dan Malloy’s corporate welfare programs. I hope the Ambassador will participate in the conversation."
Tribune Broadcasting Hartford and The Hartford Courant are hosting a debate on Friday, April 11, 2014 at noon. NBC Connecticut is hosting a live televised debate on Thursday, April 17, at 7pm at their West Hartford studios.
Fahle concluded: "We call on the Ambassador to join us at these important debates."
