"Dan Roberti understands our issues, and the issue facing working families. He recognizes how working families are being squeezed in this economic downturn, and the challenges they face at the gas pump, at the grocery story, and in every part of their lives, “ said Bill Henderson, President of CWA Local 1298. "Dan has the ideas and energy to get the job done in Washington, and CWA is proud to support him. He is a new face and a leader who will stand by his principles with strength and conviction.”
"I'm honored to have earned CWA's early support and I thank them for their leadership," said Roberti. "We'll work together to share my message about bringing fresh energy and new ideas to Washington. I know it's a long road to this election but I'm geared up for it."
CWA Local 1298's seven member Executive Board voted unanimously to endorse Roberti. CWA Local 1298 has a statewide membership of 5,200 with over 600 members living in the fifth congressional district. CWA has a strong track record of electing candidates, and was the first labor organization to endorse now Governor Dan Malloy.
“It is outside of our normal operations to endorse this early in a primary election, but our Executive Board felt that Dan Roberti has an exceptional understanding of our issues,” said Henderson.
Dan Roberti, from Kent, CT, announced his run for Congress on April 13th. Roberti raised over $255,000 in the first fundraising quarter, out raising all other fifth district candidates combined and posting a top total nationally. Roberti has earned early endorsements from key Democratic leaders, including state central member Audrey Blondin. CWA’s endorsement continues Dan Roberti’s momentum and strong start in the race.
