BRIDGEPORT, CT - The New York Islanders announced Friday that they have signed goaltender Joel Martin to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) standard professional contract (SPC). Following his signing, the Islanders have loaned Martin to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Martin, 28, has spent the last month with the Sound Tigers after signing a professional tryout contract (PTO) on Jan. 5. The Fort Worth, TX native has appeared in five games with the Sound Tigers, recording a 1-3-0 record with a 2.99 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Martin began the season with the Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League and spent time at both Islanders and Sound Tigers training camps this year.
