Norwalk, CT - “Health Care Planning and Advanced Directives” is the next topic in the Waveny Care Center and Norwalk Hospital lecture series to be presented at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 4 p.m.

Jean Thompson, senior case manager in the Case Management Department at Norwalk Hospital, will discuss planning ahead for health care decisions related to end of life care and medical decision making when patients are unable to speak for themselves.

According to Ms. Thompson, it is very important for people to have thoughtful conversations with family members, or whomever they designate, about their healthcare decisions. It is also important to complete reliable advance directives so that their wishes are made known.

After providing information about advanced directives, Ms. Thompson will answer questions from the audience.

Upcoming programs in the Norwalk Hospital Waveny Care Center lecture series include:

Dr. Stuart Novack, rheumatologist, Norwalk Medical Group, will discuss “Arthritis” on Thursday April 12 at 4 p.m. On Thursday, May 17 at 4 p.m., Dr. Robert Weiss, Connecticut Center for Advanced ENT Care, will discuss “Hearing Loss”. On Thursday, June 7 at 4 p.m., Dr. Nicholas Polifroni, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Coastal Orthopaedics, will present on “Osteoarthritis and Joint Replacement”
