In recognition of the school’s dedication to art and culture in the Greater Danbury area, Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) will receive The Housatonic Valley Cultural Alliance (HVAC)’s 2009 Business Supports the Arts award during the organization’s annual breakfast to be held at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 15.

As title sponsor of the event, Union Savings Bank has contributed $6,500 to HVAC in support of the breakfast as well as for enhancements to HVAC’s Regional Cultural Calendar, which can be accessed at http://hvculturalarts.org.

“WCSU’s School of Visual and Performing Arts nurtures the creativity of its students, offers a wealth of arts and cultural resources for the public’s enjoyment, and continues to be a strong partner to support cultural efforts in the community,” said HVCA Executive Director Lisa Scails. The school, and the much-anticipated performing arts center, is part of WCSU’s core educational platform. We applaud their commitment to enriching our community’s creative environment, improving the quality of life and to expanding opportunities.”
