Stamford YMCA hosting An Evening with Sports Legends

The Stamford Family YMCA’s is hosting its 13th annual ‘An Evening with Sports Legends’ Sports Auction on May 24th from 6:30-9pm at Bank Street Events in downtown Stamford. This intimate event features a live Q & A with eight sports greats and celebrity personalities as well as cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions.

The event supports financial assistance for the Stamford Family YMCA’s summer Camp WOW. 65% of campers receive assistance from the Y enabling them to experience a safe and nurturing summer of discovery. CEO, Ernest Lamour, describes the event as, ‘an evening we always look forward to!’ And adds, ‘what’s better than helping your favorite Y by rubbing elbows with some of your favorite sports legends?’

This years celebrities include: Former MLB player and manager Bucky Dent, MLB center fielder and NY Mets coach Mookie Wilson, NHL defenseman Ron Greschner, sports book author Marty Appel, sports radio personality Mad Dog Russo, NY Giant Steven Baker, Jets wide receiver Richard Caster, Orlando Magic forward Pat Garrity.

The Stamford Family YMCA is a charity dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. For 147 years the Stamford Family YMCA has offered health and wellness programming to adults and youth. Thanks to the generosity of members and donors, the Y offers financial assistance for membership, youth programs, the LEAD afterschool program and summer camp.
