WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee applauded the passage of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Educations (CTE) Act in the HELP Committee on Tuesday. Murphy advocated for the bipartisan legislation, which provides about $10 million to schools across Connecticut to support career and technical education programs in in-demand industries like manufacturing, agriculture, and health care. Murphy heard directly from his Manufacturing Economic Advisory Council about the importance of the Perkins CTE program.

“We want our young people to stay in Connecticut and raise their families. Perkins grants provide students with the training they need to get good-paying jobs in manufacturing and the health care industries. This is exactly the type of job training programs we need to invest in,” said Murphy.
