Sheeler’s sentence also contained a stipulation with the Department of Consumer Protection that allowed all eight victims in the above cases, plus four additional victims whose claims were handled by the Department, to receive restitution totaling $73,666.00 from the Connecticut Home Improvement Guaranty Fund. “Home improvement continues to be the number one source of complaints received by the Department of Consumer Protection,” Commissioner Farrell said. “I applaud the work of DCP investigators, state and local police, and our court system in the effort to make twelve consumers whole.” Michael Sheeler is now out of the home improvement business and has agreed to never again apply for a home improvement contractor registration.
