A veteran of Minor League Baseball entering his 19th season, Tim Restall is the winner of the 2017 Eastern League Executive of the Year. Prior to joining the Hartford Yard Goats, Tim was a proud member of the 2009 New Hampshire Fisher Cats Front Office, which was awarded the prestigious 2009 Double A Bob Freitas Award by Baseball America, recognizing the club for achieving long-term success in Minor League Baseball. In 2013, Restall relocated to New Britain Connecticut to become the General Manager of the New Britain Rock Cats and host the Eastern League All Star game that season, and later begin planning of the team relocation to Hartford.
In 2017, Randy Edsall began his second stint as the UConn head football coach, after being with the program for 12 seasons from 1999-2010. He led the program from Division I-AA status in 1999 to an appearance in the Bowl Championship Series and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl following the 2010 season. Coach Edsall returned to UConn from the NFL's Detroit Lions where he was Director of Research - Special Projects. Prior to that, he served as head football coach of the University of Maryland from 2011-2015. During the 2017 season, the Huskies posted a 3-9 record but showed marked improvement on the offensive side of the ball. A highlight of the season was a victory over defending American Athletic Conference East Division champion Temple in Philadelphia on October 14. The team’s performance in the classroom was exemplary during the fall 2017 semester as 38 student-athletes earned a spot on the Director of Athletics Honor Roll for achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or better. UConn has been recognized by the American Football Coaches Association for its high graduation rate six times, most recently in 2017.
