Stolz’s body of work includes designs for residential estates, businesses and corporate campuses around Connecticut. In his remarks he addressed a variety of outdoor lifestyle trends for 2012 with approximately 30 guests at the Orchards of Southington. In addition to discussing the need to design a space that best fits your personality, he discussed how the public’s interest in outdoor living spaces has seen an increase over the last 10 years. “It’s not just about a small patio around a fire pit anymore,” said Stolz. “We are seeing bright, planned outdoor living areas that are both livable and environmentally conscious. When designing a living space, you should design to your taste and lifestyle, and not worry about resale value. It’s all about enjoying what you have.” Stolz also stressed that when designing outdoor living space, it is important to take into consideration water conservation measures and the use of local, native plants as opposed to invasive species that are often incorporated into designs.
