Don your “Roaring 20s” dancing shoes for the Weston Women’s League’s Great Gatsby Gala on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Historic Lounsbury House, 316 Main Street, Ridgefield. There’s no need to be a League member to attend -- all Westonites and friends of friends are invited to this elegant evening. Guests will enjoy cocktails, a sit-down dinner, entertainment, dancing, and both live and silent auctions. Proceeds will benefit area charities serving women and children in need.

The Gala kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and continues until 11:00 p.m, with plenty of fun in between. The live entertainment begins during cocktail hour and includes duo, David Childs, pianist, and Janet Zamparro, vocalist. The band, Tara Engler & Friends, will kick-off diner festivities with the Charleston and keep dancers on their feet with a variety of music. What’s more, New York’s Madeleine the Magician will captivate the crowd with her walk-around magic and illusions.
Excitement is building for auction items such as romantic weekend get-aways to Newport and Manhattan, dinner for four at Manhattan’s Core Club, Knicks tickets, a dinner party for twelve including a host house, home-cooked meal and entertainment. There will be golf outings, personal training sessions, original artwork and jewelry, a plethora of themed gift baskets, hand-painted children’s furniture and more. It’s not too late to donate items or services, or to choose one of the League’s various sponsorship packages. Even small items will make a difference as they can be bundled with those in a similar category. Program advertising is also an option, such as a $50 business card placement or purchasing space to extend well wishes. Interested businesses or individuals should contact Cheryl Bryant at email@example.com.
Tickets are $100 per person and are currently on sale. Party goers are invited to wear period-appropriate outfits with a Great Gatsby feel, though cocktail attire is also welcomed. In addition, “Best Costume” prizes will be awarded for the sharpest dressed man and woman.
“We’re so pleased with the community’s support and express our gratitude to both Weston residents and local merchants. With these combined efforts, the League is certain to raise the much-needed funds for our beneficiaries,” said Kit Woolverton, event co-chair. This year’s non-profits selected to receive financial donations include Westport’s Homes with Hope and Project Return HEAL Program, Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center of Norwalk.
For tickets or to make an auction donation, contact Kit Woolverton at 203.227.7879 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Tax-deductible donations can also be mailed directly to the Weston Women’s League, P.O. Box 1113, Weston CT 06883. For more information, visit www.westonwomenleague.com
