Energy efficiency fund seeks contractors

New Haven, CT - The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, in partnership with The United Illuminating Company (UI), has announced that it is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to install energy efficient equipment measures for existing UI small business customers through the Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) Program.

Contractors will be required to conduct electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and gas system audits, install energy efficient measures such as lighting upgrades, occupancy sensors, programmable thermostats, state of the art controls for refrigeration equipment, variable frequency drives for operating equipment and high efficiency gas measures to be determined at a later date. UI will provide a customized software system to the selected contractors and will conduct the necessary training for its use.

All qualified contractors interested in participating in the bid are recommended to request the SBEA bidder’s package. To receive the SBEA bidder’s package, contractors must submit their information by October 18, 2011, 3:00 pm via fax request. To request the bidder’s package, fax UI Purchasing Department at 203-499-2491.

The bid package will be emailed to contractors on October 24, 2011.

Additionally, a bidder’s conference will be held on October 31, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Scinto Building, 3 Corporate Drive, in Shelton, Connecticut. The conference will be open to qualified contractors who have requested the SBEA bid package and are willing to operate in UI’s service territory.
