Led by trained bilingual volunteer facilitators, the group allows adults to speak openly about how the loss of a loved one has affected their lives and the lives of their children. While adults meet, their children will join other youngsters of similar ages in groups to explore their own feelings in a safe and accepting atmosphere. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. twice a month on Wednesdays at Family Centers’ Greenwich offices at 40 Arch St. Dinner is provided and there is no fee for this program. “Creating a Spanish-language group for adults truly makes the services of The Den accessible to everyone,” said Linda Weatherseed, coordinator of The Den for Grieving Kids. “Too often, a language barrier can prevent people from getting the help they need. With this group, we hope to create an atmosphere where people can feel comfortable expressing their feelings in their native language and get the support they need.” Interested families should call Linda Weatherseed at 203-655-4693 or email lweatherseed@familycenters.org to set up an intake appointment. A program of Family Centers, The Den for Grieving Kids provides a safe, caring place for children, teens and families to explore their feelings about the loss and begin the journey toward healing.
