City of Bridgeport Office of Planning Wins CCAPA Award for “Plan Bridgeport”

Bridgeport, CT - Bridgeport city officials announced that Plan Bridgeport has received a 2019 Planning Award from the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association (CCAPA).

Plan Bridgeport is the city’s ten-year master plan for conservation and development. It establishes a vision for the next decade that includes Bridgeport’s equitable development, its economic and social health, and its quality of life. The Plan provides a foundation for policy and funding decisions and informs the City’s zoning regulations for the next ten years and beyond.

CCAPA acknowledged the City for its ambitious, effective comprehensive plan and planning process as well as the effectiveness and inclusiveness of Plan Bridgeport. The Office of Planning spent 2018 conducting extensive outreach in various communities and neighborhoods throughout the City to reflect the values of Bridgeport residents.

A digital version of the plan,, allows users to navigate the plan and easily find those areas most appealing to them. The website also makes it easy to observe the progress being made to implement the objectives, strategies and more than 700 action steps.

Additionally, Regional Plan Association (RPA), a tri-state planning agency, identified Bridgeport in The Fourth Regional Plan as a Flagship Place, outlining the potential for the city to serve as a green and healthy city along the Northeast Corridor. RPA has committed to working with the City of Bridgeport to implement some of the key strategies to make the city a thriving regional center.
