Area residents and their pets are invited to Second Congregational Church’s Blessing of the Animals service Sunday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. on the Greenwich Labyrinth for Peace and Healing. The labyrinth is on the church campus, at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. The service is free.
“Last year, we had dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, a parrot, guinea pigs, fish and a tarantula,” said the Rev. Bob Naylor, Senior Minister of the Second Congregational Church. “This year, only God knows which of His creatures will arrive at the labyrinth to be blessed.”
The service will include singing, readings, prayers, and blessing of each animal. Animal treats and a special prayer will be given to each attending family.
Reservations are requested but not required. Contact Gloria LaDestro, church office manager, at 203-869-9311, ext. 120 or gloria@2cc.org. To learn more about the church, also visit www.2cc.org.
