The National Tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ announced that the Anita Deprey Studio of Dance & Performing Arts Center from East Hartford will perform the roles of “munchkins” while this beloved classic is live on stage in their home state! THE WIZARD OF OZ, touching down in Hartford at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts January 18-23, 2011, sounded the alarm to find a group of 12 local children to perform the roles of “munchkins” as part of their continuing arts education and the Anita Deprey Studio of Dance & Performing Arts Center answered.

This opportunity will provide students from the Anita Deprey Studio of Dance & Performing Arts with real-life touring theatre experience. They will discover what it’s like to be part of a professional company, learn choreography by Leigh Constantine and be outfitted in the costume designs of Tim McQuillen-Wright. It’s truly a unique experience and incredible opportunity for these aspiring actors/actresses to follow their yellow brick road! The lucky children that will perform in the Hartford engagement are Caroline Barrett, Amanda Bates, Tessa Cyr, Carlie Dreyfus, Erica Gromelski, Kristina Jacobsen, Marissa Kowal, Jessica Michaud, Alexa Roberts, Angelise Roy, Danielle St. Amand, and Megan Wochoski.

Ticket prices begin at $17 and are currently on sale at The Bushnell Box Office, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, online at www.bushnell.org or by calling (860) 987-5900. Discounts for groups of 10 or more are available by calling (860) 987-5959. THE WIZARD OF OZ is part of The Hartford Financial Services Group Broadway Series.
