For their much-anticipated album Fidelity! out on August 24, JP, Chrissie & The Fairground Boys wrote 11 new songs that speak the truth about the relationship between The Pretenders lead singer Chrissie Hynde and Welsh singer-songwriter JP Jones. They will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, September 24, at 8 p.m.
With a debut album Fidelity! under their belts, JP, Chrissie & The Fairground Boys featuring Chrissie Hynde and JP Jones will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, September 24, at 8 p.m. Amid a background of acoustic guitar-driven rock and folk with blues and country underpinnings, Chrissie Hynde and JP Jones tell their story both singing lead and effortlessly wrapping their contrasting voices around each other. Singles that illustrate their relationship include “Australia”, “If You Let Me”, and “Courage”.

According to Chrissie, “It’s always been clear that music is a vehicle to encourage self-discovery….When your spirit is elevated, you’re more open and attracted to things that are correct. So we’ve been truthful on this album.”

Over the course of her career, Hynde has collaborated with many musicians including Emmy Lou Harris, Jeff Beck, Frank Sinatra and Sheryl Crow. Jones, a Welsh singer-songwriter, had a band called Grace and a management company that connected him with hit songwriters. When he met Chrissie Hynde, they started their musical and personal collaboration. Making music with them are Patrick Murdoch on guitar, Sam Swallow on piano and keyboards, Vezio Bacci on bass and Geoff Holroyde on drums.

Special guest is singer-songwriter Amy Correia who just released her third album You Go Your Way. The New York Times calls her “a singular talent”.
