Melissa Manchester, the singer/songwriter who recorded the international classic hits “Don’t Cry Out Loud”, “Through the Eyes of Love”, and “Midnight Blue”, will bring her artistry to the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, March 19, at 8 p.m. The concert is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter Series. Media sponsor is WEBE 108fm. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass which includes a Meet & Greet with Melissa Manchester, VIP parking, an open bar and hors-d’oeuvre catered by Ancona’s Market is available for this show (203-438-5795 for information).

Perhaps best known for the hits she sang, Ms. Manchester is also a critically-acclaimed songwriter whose music has been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Mathis, Kathy Mattea, Peabo Bryson and Bette Midler, for whom Melissa Manchester sang backup before becoming a star herself. Melissa has combined her singing and acting talents in starring roles on Broadway (Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Song and Dance”, Stephen Sondheim‘s “Sweeney Todd” co-starring with Kelsey Grammer of “Frasier” fame) and in films such as “For The Boys” where she co-starred with Bette Midler.

Ms. Manchester’s 1982 “You Should Hear How She Talks About You” won her a Grammy for Best Female Vocal Performance and peaked at #5 on the Billboard charts. In recent days, Manchester has been praised for “reinventing [herself] while staying true to what made [her] popular.” Ms. Manchester has recently received the Governor’s Award from the national Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for her contributions to the music and recording arts as well as her body of work to date as a singer/songwriter.
