Eight amateur comedians and one runner up from across the region will be selected from registered audition submissions to perform live at the Connecticut Comedy Idol Contest taking place on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. at The Funny Bone Comedy Club, 194 Buckland Hills Drive in Manchester, Conn. (within The Shoppes at Buckland Hills Mall) . The event will be hosted by Celebrity Emcee, Damon Scott popular afternoon radio personality on 96.5 WTIC-FM. Tickets are $20.
Kerry Burrows, Community Relations Manager and event planner for Mosaic says “This event was created based on the American Idol show except substitute comedy in place of singing talent. Just like Mosaic tries to make dreams come true for people with intellectual disabilities, we are doing the same for these comedians.”
The eight finalist will perform an original 5-7 minute clean comedy act LIVE in front of a “Celebrity Judge Panel” consisting of Rob Steen comedian, talent agent and owner of North Shore Comedy, Brad Axelrod, talent agent and owner of Treehouse Comedy Productions, Channel 3 Eyewitness News Pinpoint Traffic Reporter; Teresa LaBarbera, and 2010 Miss Connecticut USA; Ashley Bickford.
The four celebrity judges will score the contestants and will select one winner who will be adorned with the winner sash by Miss Connecticut, receive a $500 Cash prize and be showcased and perform as the opening act in front of 3 professional headliner comedians at Mosaic's larger event called Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Comedy Night. . This is a great opportunity for someone to fulfill their dreams and maybe impress one of the talent agents like last year when a few of the contestants actually received paid appearances contracted by our talent agent judges!
Lobby Doors will open at 5:30pm and patrons can enjoy the full pub menu and beverages for purchase prior to the show which will begin at 7:00pm. The $20 tickets avaialble at www.ctmosaic.org.
