Stamford, CT - On July 16th, Stamford Center for the Arts (SCA) will host 50 children, from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, ages 9-12 at a circus arts workshop conducted by the Big Apple Circus at the Palace Theatre. The First Lady of Stamford, Maureen Pavia, will host a breakfast at the Palace Theatre to celebrate the return of SCA’s Arts Education Programs and to recognize the corporate sponsors who helped make the program possible.

RFR Realty and Purdue Pharma are the Presenting Sponsors of SCA’s 2010 Summer Arts Infusion Program who helped underwrite the program. Robinson & Cole LLC and Patriot National Bank are covering the cost for 50 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford to attend the workshop followed by a performance. Robinson & Cole Partner Steven L. Elbaum serves as President of the Boys & Girls Club’s Board of Directors.

Circus coaches from the Big Apple Circus will engage the children in feather balancing, scarf juggling, plate spinning, ball/ring juggling, Chinese yo-yos, acro-pyramids, and clowning. After the workshops, the children will have the opportunity to see these skills in action at a performance of Bello is Back! under the Big Top in adjacent Mill River Park.

“It’s always exciting to have the Circus in town, and we are delighted that children from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford will have a chance to try out their circus skills and then see a performance of this renowned performing arts group,” said Mr. Elbaum.

“Arts education is such an important part of a child’s development,” said Stephen Smith, Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, Patriot National Bank. “Patriot National Bank is excited to share this wonderful opportunity with the children from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.”
