Creative Lecture Series at Bartlett Arboretum

The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, located at 151 Brookdale Road in Stamford, is holding a free creative lecture series in August and September coinciding with the recently opened Flower Power Art Show and Sculpture Fest 2012 Show. The series will be held in the new Silver Educational Center gallery/lecture room at the Bartlett with lectures to be given by the curator and artists participating. The first presentation of the series will be given by Peach Pair, Marilee O’Gorman, and Michael Morris on Sunday August 5 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Peach Pair, curator and artist will present an overview of the works in the show as well as a description of her digital art and her creative process. Widely acclaimed abstract artist, Marilee O’Gorman, will give a presentation on her inimitable conceptual style and her inspiration for popular botanical themes on rice paper.  And artist/sculptor Michael Morris will speak on “Getting Your Thinking Out Of The Way Of Your Creating.”

The second lecture, scheduled for August 12 from 3:00-5:00pm will be given by well-known pencil sculptor Dalton Ghetti who will share a demonstration of the process of creating extreme miniature sculptures on the tip of a pencil using solely a sewing needle and razor blade. This fascinating artist will take questions and sign postcards of his works at the end of the lecture.

The third and final lecture of the series will be held on Sunday September 9 from 3:00-5:00pm. Artistic speakers will be master sculptor and adjunct professor of sculpture David Boyajian, award-winning sculptor Justin Perlman, and sculptor Derek Uhlman, who has exhibited at Smithsonian Institution, and is a member of the Copley Society of Art.
