    Diwali 'Festival of Lights'

GOPIO Connecticut chapter will host its fourth annual Diwali 'Festival of Lights' celebration at the UCONN Stamford campus on Saturday, October 23 from 5 pm to 10 pm. The annual event draws about 300-400 members of the community, and includes dinner, dancing, cultural program and entertainment for the whole family. This year a group of local children will be performing and enacting the significance of the Diwali festival.

Diwali, the most significant Indian festival, is a religious celebration of love, light, hope and freedom. It marks the the victory of good over evil, and is celebrated throughout India with lighting of lamps, the exchange of sweets and gifts, firecrackers and religious ceremonies. The festival is a vivid manifestation of its many cultures and diversity.

The event is open to all. For tickets or further information, visit www.gopio-ct.org. or email info@gopio-ct.org. GOPIO-CT serves as a non-partisan, secular, civic and community service organization – promoting awareness of Indian culture, customs and contributions through community programs, forums, events and youth activities.
