The Connecticut Whale defeated the Albany Devils, 3-2, Friday night at the XL Center in Hartford to snap an eleven-game winless streak. Kris Newbury, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Wojtek Wolski all scored for the Whale, while Mats Zuccarello and Brendan Bell added two assists apiece.

Sound Tigers sink Pirates for eighth straight road win
Forwards Justin DiBenedetto and Tony Romano each scored twice and Bridgeport scored two goals in each period as the Sound Tigers defeated the Portland Pirates 6-2 at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Friday night. With the win, the Sound Tigers have recorded a point in 12 straight games and extend their road winning streak to a team-record eight straight games as they improve to 23-17-3-2. Portland falls 21-19-2-3.

Poulin named goaltender of the month
The American Hockey League announced today that Bridgeport Sound Tigers goaltender Kevin Poulin has been named the Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month for January. Poulin made seven appearances during the month and allowed 11 goals on 216 shots, going 6-0-1 with a 1.52 goals-against average, a .949 save percentage and three shutouts.

Cizikas named player of the month
The American Hockey League announced today that Bridgeport Sound Tigers center Casey Cizikas has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Month for January. Cizikas tallied eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points and registered a plus-14 rating in 11 games during January as the Sound Tigers climbed from last place to first in the Northeast Division on the strength of a 10-0-0-1 month.

First two added to Bluefish roster
The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced their first additions of the 2012 season, signing infielder Luis Lopez and pitcher Jorge Julio. Lopez will enter his fifth season as a member of the Bluefish, while Julio will return for his second campaign in the Park City.

Whalers Sports & Entertainment and the CT Hockey Hall of Fame today announced the seven inductees who have been selected to form the new 2012 class of enshrinees to the CT Hockey Hall of Fame. The newly-selected hall of famers will be honored at the Connecticut Whale’s March 10 home game at the XL Center vs. the Norfolk Admirals, which will be “CT Hockey Hall of Fame Night”.

Sound Tigers earn 5-4 comeback in SO
Scott Howes scored the game-tying goal with 30.2 seconds left in regulation and added a tally in the shootout, as Kevin Poulin stopped all four Syracuse shooters in the bonus round and the Sound Tigers earned a dramatic 5-4 comeback shootout win at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday evening. With the win, the Sound Tigers have set a team record with seven straight road victories, extend their point streak to 11 straight games and improve to 22-17-3-2. The Crunch now sit at 19-17-3-3.

Penguins beat Connecticut Whale in OT
The Connecticut Whale were defeated by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 3-2 in overtime, Friday night before 4,163 at the XL Center in Hartford. Ex-Whale Jason Williams scored the overtime game-winner for the Penguins, while Whale goaltender Chad Johnson made 37 saves to keep the Whale in the game. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Sean Avery both scored for Connecticut.
