Award-winning Bits ‘n Pieces Puppet Theater takes you on a fantasy journey with Alice and all of her friends through Lewis Carroll’s beloved story, “Alice in Wonderland”. Take a trip down the rabbit whole, have tea with her zany friends -- the Cheshire Cat, the wicked Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and the very cool Caterpillar -- and share the delight of live theater with children of all ages on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. This event is part of the Pepsi Children’s Series. Reading of Pulitzer Prize comedy “Harvey” by Mary Chase at Westport Country Playhouse

The Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, “Harvey,” will be read by Westport Country Playhouse actor alumni and audience favorites Jayne Atkinson, Bill Buell, Brian Carter, Donald Corren, Andrea Maulella, Sarah Peterson and Mark Shanahan, and others to be announced, on Monday, March 22, 7 p.m., at Westport Country Playhouse. Tickets to the one-night-only event are $15. Directed by Anne Keefe, Playhouse artistic advisor, the reading is the second in the Script in Hand Series that brings together professional actors to read works by master playwrights.

Westport Country Playhouse artistic director Mark Lamos directs “L’Étoile” at New York City Opera

Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director, will direct Emmanuel Chabrier’s “L’Étoile” at New York City Opera, opening on March 18 through April 1. The comic opera features tenor Jean-Paul Fouchécourt as the madcap king. In addition, the opera company will reprise Lamos’ Emmy Award-winning production of “Madama Butterfly,” opening on March 19, with Shu-Ying Li as the trusting geisha. New Riders of the Purple Sage will be live in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Continuing the legacy that rockers John Dawson and Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead began some 40 years ago, the New Riders of the Purple Sage rock band will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, March 13, at 8 p.m. The New Riders of the Purple Sage (NRPS) are popular to a whole new audience of Grateful Dead fans because of their association with Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart. Deadheads love the New Riders of the PurpleSageTM as substitutes for the real deal. The band will perform new songs from their 2009 release “Where I Come From” as well as numbers that they’ve taken from the Grateful Dead legacy of John Dawson and Jerry Garcia.
